I created the concept of C.L.E.W. to enhance life daily and for a lifetime. Climbing, lifting, and eating well are most effective when we make them an integral part of lives at home. Just as we don't get in the car to drive to take a morning shower, brush our teeth or go to the bathroom, climbing, lifting, and eating well are facilitated most effectively when essential climbing and weightlifting equipment plus healthy whole food are within arm's reach. The best part is we can achieve a C.L.E.W. studio with just 196 square feet (or even less with 144 square feet!) I explain in detail how to create your own C.L.E.W. Studio at home in my book GET A C.L.E.W. FOR LIFE!® © Once you own your own equipment, it is yours 24/7. Your workout space will be excellent, authentic, and deliver to you a superior quality of life with finesse. No more wasted time driving to and from a commercial facility, no more wasted time waiting to use the weightlifting equipment or stairclimbers (assuming the facility even has any), and no more being exposed to less than sanitary conditions and less than polite gym users in the workout areas and locker rooms. You owe it to yourself to get your own: C.L.E.W. STUDIOS - EXCELLENCE AND AUTHENTICITY DELIVERED WITH FINESSE®

"LET'S PREVENT WHAT WE CAN AND BE COMBAT-READY FOR WHAT WE CANNOT AS WE ENJOY AND MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY SINGLE DAY."
I created the above company motto when I first formed my LLC The Audrey Zeitouni Lasky Company in San Francisco in 2014. As many of you know I was a New York State educator and bound by the laws and standards set forth by the New York State Department of Education in the 20th century. All those laws still apply today, and although I retired from teaching in the classroom when I moved to San Francisco, I am certified to teach for life and take my oath seriously. New York educators cannot enter a classroom and teach content not based entirely on FACTS. When it comes to anatomy, physiology, and the laws of physics as they apply to humans PREVENTING, MITIGATING, and REVERSING conditions and diseases, as well as infections that are viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic, including both non-communicable and communicable cases such as the COVID-19 Corona Virus, the solution has virtually EVERYTHING to do with what we do for ourselves, namely, CLIMB, LIFT and EAT WELL. The governor of New York State has now stated this week that he wants to "get to the bottom of why so many New Yorkers are succumbing to the Corona virus and why many are not surviving." I am fairly certain he knows the answer to his own question but does not want to "offend" anyone, but what is "offensive" is not coming straight to the point and telling every human being, not just New Yorkers, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The Governor took an oath just as I did. When I taught in the classroom, I followed not only New York State education law but I also adhered to the United States constitution as well as to a higher authority - my conscience. I would say the following to Governor Cuomo of New York State and to all the Governors of all 50 States, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and US territories: People are sick and dying because they have been bombarded on a daily basis by nonsense which has virtually nothing to do with the prevention, mitigation or reversal of conditions and diseases, and in fact, certain populations are being deliberately targeted with bogus claims by nefarious companies that thrive at the exploitation and expense of those populations who do not realize almost everything they see and hear in the media is, of course, controlled by the media. I survived something worse than the Corona virus in 1996 and how and why I survived WILL HELP SAVE LIVES NOW but I have been told that my message would create happier and healthier lives and therefore in conflict with those companies who thrive on the ignorance and sickness of the American people and now the world. My question is this: How much is enough before we as a society take back our lives so we can make informed decisions regarding how we lead our daily lives? Neither the government nor technology can do for us what only we can do for ourselves. I wrote that in my book and underscore it in my speech, and in doing so, I made some people very upset who depend on ignorant people to promote their nonsense even during a pandemic. This is NO LONGER the America of truth, justice, and the American way. We need to bring that back, right now. We were NOT created to "spin our wheels" or "perform tricks on a moving conveyor belt especially on an incline" - how dangerous when we can stand tall and CLIMB on our own two feet on solid footing and walk up against gravity and then descend very slowly and carefully while looking straight ahead to engage our core and protect our knees. That is what the human body was designed to do. When our hips and thighs support us, NOT our hands, more oxygenated blood and nutrients feed the organs and tissues of our body and brain and a more efficient cardiovascular system and central nervous system are created. When we LIFT ourselves up and lift weights progressively, blood glucose is regulated which helps to prevent type II diabetes, 95% of which could be avoided in the first place. When we EAT WELL by choosing to EAT (not drink) a fresh whole apple and beautiful fresh vegetables prepared deliciously instead of junk food every day our bodies allow us to enjoy life. Yes, there is indeed life after junk fitness modalities and junk food all day every day, but what I have just described threatens those who profit from the ignorance of the American people and now the world. So I will ask the anchors and journalists across all media outlets to STOP saying that Americans are coming together because they are not, and the reason why has to do with those with power and influence who profit by keeping the majority of the public unaware that the 21st century has been very bad for America. We need to look back at the 20th century and glean from it only what was GOOD for HUMAN BEINGS so we can stop seeing the body bags being taken out of people's homes in New York who have died in their homes without ever being seen by a physician. These people never had a chance. They were victims of the media before the Corona virus ever landed on our shores. I originally wrote the following on October 31, 2019 on a flight from San Francisco to New York to meet with a prominent member of the clergy who I respect very much. I wanted to unite PEACE and HEALTH because without those two things we have nothing. Media giants with no soul may become billionaires without peace and health but the rest of us care about seeing the sunrise every day. PEACE WILL COME WHEN... Golda Meir once stated: “Peace will come when our enemies love their children more than they hate us.” Audrey Zeitouni Lasky states today: “Peace will come when those with power and influence love their children and the children of others more than they love money.” “Peace will come when those with power and influence give AZL the platform to show the world what peace and tranquility look and sound like in her birthplace of Paris and her birthright of Beirut." ”Peace will come when those with power and influence allow AZL to disseminate crucial health and fitness information freely into the airwaves to help broker that peace.” “Peace will come when righteous knowledge is delivered to the masses rather than self-righteous rubble.” “Peace will come when we realize that the greatest invention of all time has already been invented - the human body, when we respect it and protect it, it serves us well.” “Peace will come when we respect, NOT redefine the great equalizer: Every human being has organs, muscles, bones, and connective tissue which need oxygenated blood and nutrients delivered most effectively by climbing, lifting, and eating well.” - Audrey Zeitouni Lasky MS EDU NASM-CPT FNS GET A C.L.E.W. ©️ As a result of current worldwide events I am providing key information from my book talks to benefit the health and well-being of you, your family, and your loved ones. The following applies to the gamut of infections, whether viral, bacterial, or fungal, and to those which are parasitic in nature, as well as to both communicable and non-communicable cases: On Valentine’s Day 1996, I suffered end-stages of life while remaining on death’s doorstep for the 29 days which followed. The sudden-onset, non-preventable, and idiopathic (unknown cause) nature of MULTIPLE ORGAN SYSTEM FAILURE as the result of Septic Shock mimic closely what is likely to occur if proactive steps to help PREVENT, MITIGATE, and REVERSE the gamut of conditions and diseases including viruses like the Corona are not correctly implemented. In my case, there was no source of infection ever found. There was absolutely nothing wrong with me or my immune system, and although at first it appeared to New York State health officials that I could be the first patient infected with some type of infection which could result in an epidemic, I was not. I did, however, exhibit all the classic signs, symptoms, and side effects of a deadly one. What happened to me in 1996 will forever remain an unsolvable mystery but the moral of the story is that current worldwide events require the public to take the same proactive steps I took which allowed me to save my own life. Divine intervention did not save me in 1996, climbing on my own two feet against gravity, lifting free weights progressively, and eating well via beautiful, satisfying, and healthy whole food did. Putting into action beginning in 1990 what I had learned in high school and college regarding anatomy, physiology, and the laws of physics as they apply to human beings made it possible for me to save my own life six years later. My incredible story was written up in a New York newspaper in November 1996. No physician or nurse thought I would survive the events of Valentine’s Day 1996 or the 29 days which followed, but I did. I lived to tell about it… By nightfall, I could no longer breathe on my own. I was given more morphine to facilitate the insertion of the breathing tube. Most of my organs were now failing. My legs were covered in what is known as petechiae - bleeding through the skin, and my arms were bright purple. I was hooked up to multiple intravenous lines, and my ankles and feet had swelled to three times their normal size. Even if I somehow survived, my ankles and feet would probably not make it. The doctors told my husband there was, however, one positive sign. My brain was functioning normally. Incredibly, I was not in a coma. I was just sleeping. Although I suffered systemic inflammatory response syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome, on a respirator, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, complete gastrointestinal failure, and required multiple blood transfusions, I was awake, alert, and oriented the entire time and communicated by pointing to an alphabet board. My heart was now working overtime to keep me alive. Despite how weakened and enlarged my heart had become, it never stopped beating. Although suffering from life-threatening acute congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema, my heart continued to do its job. Incredibly, there was no permanent damage to my cardiac muscle and my central nervous system remained untouched and unscathed. Just enough oxygenated blood and nutrients continued to feed the organs and tissues of my body and the neurons of my brain. Twenty percent of the oxygen taken in during effective, non-weight-supported cardiovascular exercise is delivered directly to the brain. Climbing against gravity had increased both my cardiovascular endurance and the oxygen levels in my blood as it increased my brain capacity by promoting the growth of new neurons and strengthening the existing neural connections between them. This allowed me to remain sharp, alert, and oriented every waking moment for 29 days. I am living proof from the 20th century that heart health equals brain health. Cardiorespiratory fitness prior to the onset of my near deadly experience had improved my lung ventilation, enabling me to breathe more efficiently by improving the transport of oxygen. I had created stronger respiratory muscles, known as the intercostals, as I significantly improved the ability of my muscles to use oxygen. Weight-bearing climbing and lifting had created thicker bones and articular cartilage, the smooth, white tissue covering the ends of bones where they come together to form joints. Healthy cartilage made it easier for me to move as bones glided over each other with little friction. This would not have been possible with any modality supporting my body weight with my hands. This was central to my being able to walk again without my walker or my cane just two weeks after discharge. This is why I still have limbs. Climbing for six years had significantly increased the production of mood-elevating endorphins, the body’s natural opiates designed to relieve stress and reduce pain naturally. I was known as the patient in remarkably good spirits. Although the genius of Carlos Santana, the Three Tenors, and the Celtic beauty known as Enya, made the unbearable, bearable, climbing, lifting, and eating well had saved me. Following the events of 1996, one might think something went terribly wrong but in reality something went right. My body fought hard to save itself from dying because I had been training it to do so without realizing it for the 6 years prior. We do not have to allow the passage of time to dictate quality of life or longevity. Age does not define us, our actions do. Regardless of our starting point, we can significantly slow down the aging process and help prevent, mitigate, and reverse the gamut of conditions and diseases by climbing, lifting, and eating well. When executed correctly, climbing and lifting require a total commitment of no more than 5 to 7 hours per week, leaving between 161 and 163 hours in which to live, work, and play. Eating well is our birthright. The terms diet and lose weight are ambiguous at best and potentially dangerous at worst. You will not find them in my book. You will, however, find what I call the daily menu as well as a sampling of delicious gourmet recipes. Essential nutrients in beautiful, healthy, and satisfying food are delivered most effectively to the organs and tissues of the body when consumed whole. Often, when individuals engage in health and fitness fads or questionable practices, the weight loss noted on a scale is likely a loss of water weight, a loss of muscle mass, or even a loss of bone mineral density. None of these outcomes are desirable and must be avoided at all costs. While many of us are concerned with the current state of our healthcare system, we have the power to lead the discussion in a completely different direction. Rather than focusing primarily on the need for treatment, we can implement the most effective methods already proven for more than a generation to help prevent the need for treatment in the first place. While the airwaves are overrun with individuals talking about “rights” we must also understand that with “rights” come the “responsibility” to learn how the human body and brain were designed to function and to discard all myths and fads so we can AVOID being sick in the first place whenever possible. I would rather BUY AIRLINE TICKETS and BOOK HOTEL ROOMS than have to buy prescription drugs and book hospital rooms. When we take proper care of the body, the brain follows. What fuels and sustains the body fuels and sustains the brain. If, however, we only engage in what we believe sustains the mind, then both body and brain deteriorate. Since both body and brain require adequate amounts of oxygenated blood and nutrients to function and function well, we must climb, lift, and eat well. C.L.E.W. not only protects and maintains both body and brain; it also creates peace of mind. We are then free to engage in any optional activities we like, physical or mental because time is a precious commodity. Once it has been used or, in some cases, wasted, we can never get it back. The commercial fitness industry’s business model is obsolete in the 21st century, just as outhouses and laundromats no longer serve us. Climbing and lifting require only 196 square feet or less. By modernizing our homes and offices we can dramatically improve quality of life and longevity. The evolution of mankind requires us to mimic our ancestors. The evolution of mankind dictates we AVOID the unnecessary health risks inherent in mediocre and poorly maintained commercial fitness spaces. The evolution of mankind requires us to climb, lift, and eat well at home, just as I have since 1990, or in a clean and controlled office space. The empirical evidence is clear. The verdict is in. The synergy of climbing, lifting, and eating well, enables us to be in the most strategic position to withstand trauma, survive, and return to the life we knew, or create an even better one. It’s not about counting each step. It’s about making each step count. Let’s prevent what we can and be combat-ready for what we cannot as we enjoy and make the most of every single day. FOR LIFE! in the first place.
(The photo featured with me seated was the last photo taken of me just prior to February 14, 1996 in New York. I could have never guessed the events about to unfold several weeks later on Valentine's Day 1996. The photo of me standing was taken immediately following my book talk at the business luncheon of the Executives Association of San Francisco on January 24, 2019.) BEGIN PASSAGE: "February 14, 1996, the color red was everywhere, representing Valentine's Day and the day septic shock and multiple organ system failure became part of my vocabulary. Twenty-nine days later, everything was turning green as I looked out from my hospital room window. Seven days before the official arrival of spring and three days before St. Patrick's Day, the time of renewal had become my rebirth. If I could just stand on my own two feet and take a few steps with the cane fitted for me that morning, I would be discharged from the Hackensack University Medical Center, the last stop on my journey back to the life I had known prior to that fateful Valentine's Day. But could I do it? And if I could, would I be able to manage on my own away from what had become my cradle of comfort in the Cardiac Care Unit? I wanted very badly to be home in New York with my husband and son, but I was scared and nervous. I was not used to the outside world. My world had become something out of a science fiction thriller filmed on location in a medical center, only now the medical center felt like home. I was at a fork in the road. My body wanted to stay longer in the comfort and safety of the Cardiac Care Unit but my brain knew it was time to go back to New York and home to my little boy. I could imagine his little face pressed against the living room window hoping it would help make Mommy come home sooner. I thought about my special squadron of fellow patients, my champions who cared about me and made me feel human again. I thought about the Vietnam veteran who knew something awful had transpired in New York but did not ask me for details. He just encouraged me and tried to make me smile. So I gathered every bit of strength I could, took hold of the cane, stood up from the hospital bed, and looked straight ahead just as the physical therapist instructed me to do. I proceeded to walk on my severely nerve-damaged feet, the limbs slated for amputation just weeks earlier. For the first time in 29 days, I could do what most people take for granted. I could walk. "Good job!" exclaimed the therapist with a big smile. "Congratulations! You can go home!" Let's prevent what we can and be combat-ready for what we cannot as we enjoy and make the most of every single day! GET A C.L.E.W. FOR LIFE!®️ "CLIMB, LIFT & EAT WELL..."®️ The following is the introduction to my book talk at the Fairmont Hotel San Francisco January 8, 2019. (I literally put my cards on the table.) Experience is the best teacher. I firmly believe that statement, but I also know firsthand that the best teachers can, and often do, make a profound difference in the lives of their students. I am alive today because I was fortunate enough to have been educated by the very best. These dedicated professionals taught content backed entirely by empirical evidence and delivered it with honesty, integrity, and compassion. Subscribing to and living by their philosophy of education has benefitted me my entire adult life, as a wife, a mother, and an educator. Good afternoon. My name is Audrey Lasky, former New York educator turned author, certified personal trainer, and founder of The Audrey Zeitouni Lasky Company, a San Francisco health and fitness consulting company and private studio. If you take the San Francisco Bay Bridge and stay on Interstate 80 for about 3,000 miles, you will arrive at the end of the Interstate. You will see a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline and the last exit. This is the exit for Teaneck, NJ, home of the premier public school system which in the 1970’s had the distinction of being the number one school district in the state across all disciplines. Teaneck was also the first district in the United States to voluntarily desegregate in 1964. I am very fortunate to have been educated in Teaneck. My husband and I graduated from the majestic “castle on the hill” in 1980. Ironically, San Francisco was the first stop of our Hawaiian honeymoon in 1984. My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and flew to San Francisco the next morning to spend two nights and three days right here at the Fairmont Hotel. I never would have guessed that 25 years later my husband and I would move to the City by the Bay. It appears we have come full circle. Although my husband had permanently moved here, I remained bi-coastal for the first couple of years and continued to get medical checkups in New York. Later, I decided to establish care at the UCSF Medical Center. By 2012, following the gamut of all the routine 50-year-old checkups and screenings, the UCSF medical staff began to urge me to make public the details of my health and fitness regimen, and in particular, a powerful story of survival, mine. My physicians and nurses were clear: “You need to tell people what you are doing. We rarely see women or men present as you do at such an incredible level of health and fitness. The public needs to see and hear from a prime example. They need to hear your inspiring survival story.” So I asked, “What do you want me to do – tell people I CLIMB a revolving stair machine, LIFT free weights, and EAT WELL? They replied, “Yes, and you should write a book.” Although I had originally planned to put certain events of the 20th century behind me, their words resonated with me. The following year I became a certified personal trainer and formed my own health and fitness LLC. By 2015, I began writing the first draft of a manuscript which became my first published book in 2018: GET A C.L.E.W. FOR LIFE!© Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated so eloquently that we must judge a man by the content of his character, but in the 21st century, we must judge the content by its character. Knowledge can only become power once we eliminate the fear of the unknown and discard all myths standing in the way of meaningful efforts and success. But to be truly empowered, we must first understand what we need to do, why we need to do it, and how to do it safely and effectively. Otherwise, the process of becoming healthy and fit is like trying to drive a car while blindfolded. We could perhaps feel for the car door, open it, sit down, feel for the ignition, and start the engine, but we would never get anywhere. The pursuit of optimum health and fitness is both an art and a science. The ART is learning how to separate “science-fiction” from “science-fact” and the SCIENCE is learning how to implement those scientific facts based entirely on empirical evidence. ***** On Valentine's Day 1996 the lessons I learned from the outstanding Teaneck faculty and staff made the difference between life and death. As a happy and healthy wife and mother, I could never have imagined that a headache and a fever would result in such a close encounter with the unthinkable.
